Special Education Millage Renewal on May Ballot
Vote on May 2! The May 2 ballot will include a question regarding a renewal of the Special Education Millage for school districts in the Jackson County ISD service area. This is not a new tax. JCISD and its partner districts have, in part, been able to meet the needs of special education students because of voter-supported enhancement millages that began in 1997. Currently, more than 4,000 students’ ages birth-to-26 receive some form of special education services.
A taxpayer who owns a home with a market value of $100,000 (taxable value of $50,000) would pay $77.04 per year or $6.42 per month in renewed millage.
